To qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), applicants must meet specific minimum criteria in areas such as work experience, language proficiency, education, and achieve a score of at least 67 points on the program’s 100-point assessment grid.
The minimum eligibility requirements are as follows:
1. Accumulate one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience within the past decade in a skilled occupation categorized under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels 0, A, or B.
2. Demonstrate language proficiency that aligns with the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or French, encompassing all language abilities (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
3. Possess a Canadian educational qualification (certificate, diploma, or degree) or a foreign credential along with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.
To be eligible, candidates must also secure a minimum of 67 out of 100 points on the FSWP grid. This assessment grid evaluates applicants based on factors including age, educational background, work experience, potential arranged employment, language proficiency, and adaptability.
Once you meet these eligibility criteria, you can enter the Express Entry pool. Within the Express Entry pool, candidate profiles are ranked, and this pool encompasses not only Federal Skilled Workers but also Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class candidates. The ranking is determined by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
