Visitor Visa Eligibility

A visitor visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is necessary for various purposes of travel to Canada. These purposes include visiting family or friends, going on vacation, or engaging in business activities. The TRV is typically stamped in your passport.

Before applying for a visitor visa, it’s important to first determine whether you require one for temporary entry into Canada. Some foreign nationals from specific countries may be exempt from obtaining a TRV.

When granted a visitor visa, a foreign national can stay in Canada for a period of up to 6 months, with the possibility of extension. Eligibility for obtaining a temporary visa is contingent on several factors, including the legitimacy of the purpose of the visit, financial status, and health condition.

Super Visa Eligibility

A Supervisa, also known as a Super Visa, is a type of visa issued by the Government of Canada that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit and stay in Canada for an extended period of time. The Super Visa is designed to facilitate family reunification by allowing eligible individuals to spend more time with their children or grandchildren who are living in Canada.

Key features of the Super Visa include:

Multiple Entries: Super Visa holders can make multiple entries into Canada during the validity of the visa, which can be up to 10 years.

Long Stay: Unlike regular visitor visas, which typically allow stays of up to 6 months per visit, Super Visa holders can stay in Canada for up to 2 years on each entry without needing to renew their status.

Medical Insurance: To be eligible for a Super Visa, applicants must provide proof of private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that covers health care, hospitalization, and repatriation for at least one year and with a minimum coverage amount. This requirement is in place to ensure that visitors can cover their healthcare expenses while in Canada.

Income Requirements: The sponsoring child or grandchild in Canada must meet certain income requirements to be eligible to sponsor their parent or grandparent for a Super Visa.

Other Eligibility Criteria: Applicants for a Super Visa must also undergo a medical examination and security background checks, among other eligibility criteria.

It’s important to note that the Super Visa is different from a regular tourist visa, as it offers a longer duration of stay and is specifically intended for family reunification purposes.
